Brooklyn Museum invites you to visit an exhibition as part of its U.S. city tour
"Portraits of Obama.".
Since their unveiling at the Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., in February 2018, the official portraits of President Barack Obama and Mrs. Michelle Obama have become iconic. President Obama's portrait of Kehinde Wiley and former First Lady Amy Sherald's portrait generated an unprecedented response from the public.
This five-city US tour runs from June 2021 to May 2022 and is expected to reach millions of people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to see these remarkable paintings. The special presentation expands conversations about the power of portrait painting and its potential to engage communities. The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated book published by the National Portrait Gallery and Princeton University Press.
