My name is Borisov Artyom. I am an artist from St. Petersburg. I am engaged in graphics and oil painting.

The main concept of my work is the reflection of the human soul through lines and shapes, avoiding as much as possible the classical principles of academic perception of the image and conventional beauty.

I am interested in human emotions. I found myself in it - I like this unconventional search for the many shades of thoughtfulness, sadness, reflection.... These states reflect and shape the depth of personality. We grow above ourselves through pain and life's challenges. The challenge of my art is to reflect the outward appearance of the soul in these moments. You look at a person's face and you see hundreds of states of being. The angle of the eyebrows and eyelids, the glint of the eyes, the frown of the forehead, the corners of the lips. All these things form many combinations. Each combination is a unique emotion. Catching that emotion is the most valuable thing.

An infinite number of images are born in my mind, some of them literally forming on the fly from the chaotic lines with which I start my work. I stand at a blank sheet of paper, and for a few quick movements of my hand I create a certain "pattern", and, afterwards, just relax my consciousness. After a while the associative line of my imagination snatches some image. It's very similar to the way we look for figures in the clouds. I like to let go of control and give the subconscious mind the go-ahead.

However, there are also times when a work is created from a specific idea. And then the great struggle between concept and form begins in my head. I have to get involved in managing this initial chaos of lines, literally, to help it arrive at the conceived idea.

All these processes inside me result in what you see in my paintings. I try to make each one of them hook the viewer's aesthetic perception and cause a shift in consciousness. These are the things I believe art should be created for. That is my creative principle.
