Generational Memory

Exhibition November 4 − December 8, 2019
Russian Academy of Arts and MBO "Manege" (Moscow Manege) present a grandiose exhibition project“Memory of generations”.

Visitors will see more than 150 paintings and sculptures from 34 cities of Russia. The exhibition acquaints visitors with the work of famous domestic artists and sculptors, many of whom are historical members of the Russian Academy of Arts: A. Deineka, P. Korin, A. Plastov, P. Konchalovsky, Kukryniksoy Yu. Pimenov, V. Mukhina, E. Vuchetich, A. Samokhvalov, R. Falk, A. Laktionov, V. Yakovlev, I. Glazunov, V. Pokov, G. Korzhev and many others.

The exposition tells about the path to Victory, about how the theme of the war was reflected in the fine arts of the 1940-2010s. Forty-two museums took part in the exhibition. The paintings were brought from all over our country - from Kaliningrad to Khabarovsk, from Arkhangelsk to Astrakhan. To collect these unique works of art under one roof, the organizers of the exhibition made a journey of more than 80 thousand kilometers.

The first halls of the exhibition tell about the most important milestones of the Great Patriotic War: the beginning of the war, the outrage of the enemy in the occupied territories, events at the front, life and work in the rear, will tell about the heroism of the defenders of the Fatherland, and, finally, about the Victory. The second part of the exhibition is devoted to understanding the military feat and tragedy of the people in the painting of the postwar years.
