Isaac Levitan. Quiet abode

Exhibition April 29 − September 26, 2021
Ples State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve in the halls of the Museum and Exhibition Complex "Public places" presents the project "Isaac Levitan. Quiet abode ".

The famous painting by Isaac Levitan from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) will be presented surrounded by historical objects, archival materials and graphic sheets from the funds of the Plessk Museum-Reserve. Thanks to inter-museum cooperation, residents and guests of the Ivanovo region will be able to see the painting "Quiet Abode" painted in Plyos, which is rightfully considered a masterpiece of Russian realistic painting. This is a unique opportunity because the picture is not presented in the main exhibition of the State Tretyakov Gallery and is rarely seen in public.

The specially organized space of the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Public Spaces Exhibition Complex invites viewers to an interesting conversation about the sublimity of the spiritual principle and the deep inner content of the works of the creator of the “mood landscape”. The name of Isaac Levitan is inextricably linked with Ples (the only Memorial House-Museum of the artist in Russia is located here) and Moscow (the Tretyakov Gallery holds the largest collection of the master's creative heritage, the pearls of which are the canvases painted by Levitan in Ples and based on the Volga impressions).

Based on site materials Plessk State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.
