From December 2 to 19, 2021, the historic building of the "Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts" will host the IV International Art Exhibition-Festival "Portrait of a Cat". The exhibition will occupy all five halls of the famous exhibition centre of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists on Bolshaya Morskaya Street. Visitors will see works of masters from Russia, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, USA, Israel, New Zealand... Over 1000 pieces of art - classical and applied - of various types, techniques and styles: paintings, sculptures, graphics, watercolours, stained glass, author's jewellery and collectible toys.
The mission of the "Portrait of a Cat" exhibition is to popularize contemporary art among a wide audience, which is why the image of the beloved animal and the unspoken symbol of St. Petersburg was chosen as the title theme. The exhibition will bring together representatives of various directions - from realists to abstractionists - to offer the viewer a glimpse of contemporary visual art in all its diversity.
In addition to the exposition, the exhibition-festival will include various creative activities for adults and children: master classes, open painting lessons, lectures, creative meetings and concerts. In addition, a souvenir shop will be open for visitors to the exhibition: those who wish can buy postcards and magnets with paintings from the exhibition, author posters, giclee, small watercolors, art albums, original souvenirs and jewelry.
