10 (22) may, 1856, Pavel Tretyakov had received a note from the artist Vasily Khudyakov on the calculation (pay 450 rubles) for the painting "Skirmish with Finnish smugglers". It was probably the first serious thing in the collection of the Tretyakov. This date is considered the day of Foundation of the Tretyakov gallery.
