Born in the town of Shuya, Ivanovo region. He graduated from the art faculty of VGIK (1955). Worked as a costume designer, since 1965 — artistic Director of the Odessa film Studio. Left their lives on 6 June 1999, in Odessa.
In 1944-1949, he studied at the Palekh art school. Since 1949 he worked in the Association of Palekh artists (later Palekh art-production workshops). Themes of works: folklore, genre scenes.
