One of the founders of the Transcarpathian school of fine arts. Born in the village of Zahattya in Transcarpathian region. He studied at the Budapest Academy of arts (I. Reves, A. Grunwald). From 1916 he lived in Mukachevo, in 1922 – 1926, in Munich, 1926 in Uzhgorod and in 1929 – 1931 in Paris. In 1927 he founded together with I. Bokshay UHS, 1931 – Partnership of the workers of pictorial art of pidkarpatska Rus. Taught painting in Mukachevo school, teachers ' Seminary in Uzhgorod, in 1945 – 1955 – in the Uzhgorod College of applied arts. Lived and worked in Uzhgorod.
