Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Born in 1938 in Irkutsk. He graduated from the children's art school in Chita and the Irkutsk Polytechnic Institute, he studied at the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography. N.P. Akimov. Since 1974 - a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Yuri Kononenko's works are in Russian and foreign galleries and museums, as well as in private collections in the USA, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, France, Canada, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Venezuela, Australia and Yugoslavia.
