Born in the village of Selivanovo in Vladimir region. In 1967-1972 he studied at the Palekh art school. Teacher - N.M.Zinoviev, M. I. Shemarov, A. V. Kovalev, K. S. Semeikin. Since 1972 worked at the Palekh art-production workshops. Themes of works: folklore, literature. Participant of exhibitions since 1975. The work of E. G. Gerekova are stored in museums: gmpi, Umgeni, the DEM, the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation.
