Born in the village of Tarbagatai Buryat ASSR. From 1963 to 1968 he studied at the Irkutsk art school at G. V. Antsiferov. From 1966 to 1980 he worked as chief artist at ITAM HF RSFSR. From 1982 to 1984 was Chairman of the monumental section at the Board of the Irkutsk organization CX RSFSR.
