A native of St. Petersburg, the son of the Governor of Kazan. He served in the life guards hussar regiment, retired with the rank of Colonel (1821). Actual state councillor, master of the horse of the Imperial court. Attended as a volunteer at sculpture class of academician P. K. Klodt at the Academy. Honorary member of the Imperial Academy of arts (1848). Known as a talented animal painter, author of small figurines of horses belonging to the emperors Paul I, Alexander II, Nicholas I. the Owner of a small factory producing bronze busts, candlesticks and chamber animalistic sculpture (figurines of horses and dogs).
