The Louvre is holding an exhibition "To the stage! Costume Designs from the Edmond de Rothschild Collection".

Visitors will see hundreds of the finest works from the unique collection of the French philanthropist, founder of the "French branch" of the Rothschilds.

The Edmond de Rothschild Collection boasts 1,644 sumptuous sketches of costumes for balls, ballets, masquerades and operas presented in France from the time of François I to Louis XIV. Acquired in the late 19th century by Baron de Rothschild, they are a rich resource for understanding the world of spectacle during the Ancien Régime.
