The Odessa Museum of Art presents
"MAPPA MUNDI - the largest solo exhibition of Pavel Makov, one of the leading and most expensive Ukrainian artists of our time.
The exhibition introduces the artist's new works, created during the years 2020 - 2021.
First, these are large works with plants dominating the (former) human world. The series demonstrates a new imagery for Makov (the humanized plant, the contrast of the scales of the natural and the man-made) and a formal language not typical before (the combination of prints and drawings, the involvement of color).
Secondly, visitors will see the central object of the exhibition - a new work by MAPPA MUNDI. This is a large-scale layout reproducing the outlines of the modern political map of the world. This map is schematic and conventional, but the position of countries and the borders between them are reproduced in detail. With the only important difference - in the geography of "Por Makov" the territories are not sealed, but are connected by door-holes, which pierce all the walls-borders. Delimited in reality by customs and quarantine, in the artist all states become neighbors. And the globe becomes one multi-room apartment.
