Memory of Material. Porcelain by Sergey Rusakov

An exhibition opened at the State Hermitage Museum in the General Staff Building "Memory of Material. Porcelain by Sergey Rusakov".

The large-scale exhibition is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of cooperation between the State Hermitage Museum and the Imperial Porcelain Factory. Visitors will see more than three hundred porcelain pieces accompanied by the author's graphics: sculptural compositions, installations and objects made in complex and forgotten techniques.

In the eighteenth century, which gave us porcelain with its mysterious and fascinating history of the new birth and survived the "porcelain fever", extremely highly valued this material. Having acquired the status of a national cultural phenomenon, porcelain has taken on not only decorative and utilitarian functions, but also educational. Becoming one of the brightest achievements of the XVIII century, porcelain almost immediately became an object of collecting and study.
