Louis Paret

Mostra 24 maggio − 21 agosto 2022
The largest exhibition of a Spanish painter takes place at the Museo Nacional del Prado Louis Paret (1746-1799).

This first exhibition dedicated to Paret at the Museo del Prado brings together most of his paintings and a rich collection of drawings. Arranged both chronologically and thematically, they will allow visitors to discover an artist of exceptional talent and personality and to enjoy a work full of diversity and beauty.

Luis Paret y Alcázar (1746-1799) was born and worked at the same time as Francisco de Goya, whose distinguished career and subsequent influence eventually overshadowed Paret's role in art. Nevertheless, Paret completed his studies and his artistic "formation" several years earlier than Goya, and aroused his amazement with his lively scenes of new and contemporary themes. In his paintings he reflected ironically and subtly the life of a society slowly moving forward.
