"Gnomes in Russia or Where Magic Lives."
Personal exhibition of Fedor Usachev - artist, teacher and illustrator. He is a member of the Russian Union of Artists, the Moscow Art Fund and the ATS. The creative concept of the artist is "Man and Nature" in the direction of "mystical romanticism with symbolism". In this creative concept there are different cycles of works: nature, gnomes and forest spirits, still life, portrait, cityscape, miniature, illustration. For the first time in Russia, the exhibition presents a new cycle of works dedicated to gnomes and magic. The main character of this series is a fairy-tale gnome. In Russia it is usually a domovoi or a leshy. In Scandinavian mythology and in German fairy tales, it is a small man-spirit, who can be both good and evil, but he is like a mirror of the human soul. "Usually intuitively and by subtle structures of the soul we can see him and feel his presence," says the artist. - It's like an empty room with a centuries-old history, where you walk in and realize that they are looking at you, not you at it." The author's works are made in painting and graphics (watercolor, oil, mixed technique). According to Fedor, his task was to present the hero not only as a book illustration, but also as a painting, monumentally. "My inviolable theme in painting and graphics remains the relationship between man and nature," says Fyodor Usachev. - What a small man in relation to nature, its elements and the greatness of beauty, we endlessly admire it and with all our souls want to be closer".
