"Every man wants to tie his life to something that seems eternal."
Andrew Mellon.
The author of the collection, artist Alexander Karavaev, from childhood took a great interest in drawing, his life is associated with painting and it was for him perhaps the most important and eternal.
By posting this collection I would like to honor the memory of Alexander Karavaev and show his paintings to a large audience, so that the viewer could see and appreciate the work of a self-taught artist, but at the same time a gifted artist.
"Siberian nugget" - so one of the local artists, presenting Alexander a letter of recommendation for admission to the Leningrad Academy of Arts in 1970.
Alexander himself never sought publicity and did not exhibit his work. He developed his talent independently, without an artistic environment, but quite successfully, as one of the famous artists present, Anatoly Dumler, surprisingly emphasized in his speech at the opening of the exhibition.
