Baldaev Philip Ilyich is one of the oldest artists of the Union of artists of Buryatia 30s Leading Republican art Museum. C. Sampilov, a lot of effort and knowledge he put into its development. Philip Ilyich studied at L. I. Kopylova at the Irkutsk art College, from which he graduated in 1932 From that time he began to work in painting, posters, book graphics.
Known early canvases with simple stories - "Join the farm", "Noble nepovezane Chapaev", etc. On the I decade of Buryat art in Moscow in 1940 F. Baldaev presented original painting "Shono-Bator", in which he manifested great interest in folk epic, which is evident throughout his creative work.
The artist travels through the Republic, collecting and studying the folklore of the Buryat people, making numerous sketches of national ornaments with items of folk life. Many of them collected ornaments was included in his album "Buryat folk ornament", published in 1972, Today this work is highly valued, contributes to the preservation of the original artistic heritage of the Buryat people. According to the developed sketches of F. Baldaev was performed decorative art folk artists – D. Badmaeva, Lenhoboevym, D. Loginova, many of which are in the collections of the Art Museum.TS.Sampilov (vases "Buryatia", "Hula", the Buryat knife, etc.).
Such paintings as "Portrait of Hero of the Soviet Union J. tulaeva" (1945), "Portrait of limbata B-N.Dugarova" (1949), long ago entered the collection of works reflecting the development of Buryat art.
Everyone is well familiar with the artist's illustrations to many works of Buryat writers and poets: Kh, D. Madison, A. Chudaeva and others - Buryat fairy tales, folk epos "Geser".
F. Baldaev is widely known as a cartoonist. In his numerous sketches, signed by the pseudonym "FIB", he fights with vulgarity, drunkenness, laziness, hypocrisy and other human vices. Caricature FIBA necessarily responds to the facts or events, but the facts are certainly meaningful, broad social generalization. Often, his picture is accompanied by the author's apt word. But with particular urgency and sharpness, he created caricatures of political issues.
Philip Ilyich Baldaev was a person of multifaceted talent. While studying at the Irkutsk College, he he shows great aptitude for journalistic activities, collaborates in the Newspapers "Vostochno-Sibirskaya Pravda", "the Eastern-Siberian Komsomolets". Was admitted to the Union of journalists of the USSR. His correspondence was printed in the newspaper "buryad Nan", magazine "Baikal" and often were accompanied by interesting drawings. The specifics of newspaper work demanded from the artist a quick and timely responses to critical events of the day. Utmost brevity, inventiveness and satirical sharpness characterized his soreporter.
In 60-ies pronounced another facet of his talent. F. I. Baldaev began to publish as a children's writer. He has written and illustrated several children's books, published in Ulan-Ude: "the Bear and the wise ant", "Swallows Bair", "Gahanna, Gahani gahi", etc.
The works of Philip Ilyich Baldaev exhibited in many exhibitions in the country, his main works have become property of the Museum. Many years of work in the arts, public life marked by many awards.
