Nikitich Gorelov

Winner of the Stalin prize. Member of the Academy of arts of the USSR, honored worker of arts of RSFSR. He studied at Penza art school (1898-1903) with K. A. Savitsky, and in Academy of Arts under I. E. Repin. 1 November 1910 - the title of the artist for the painting "Miracle at the burial of St. Alexander Nevsky". After graduation, Gorelov was awarded the fellowship award to travel to Germany, France and Italy (1911-1914).

From 1904 the participant is a Member and Exhibitor of the Association of traveling Art Exhibitions (1912-1916), Fellowship of South Russian artists (1906-1909), AHRR (1925-1926).

For the painting "Mockery heretics" was awarded the gold medal of the International art exhibition in Munich in 1909 In 1937 he received the silver medal of the International exhibition in Paris (1950).

Gavriil Nikitich Gorelov was born in a peasant family. In the school years Gorelov first saw the sign for the temple and imbued with the desire to become a painter. For this purpose he went to Moscow, where he initially engaged in iconography. In 1898-1903 he studied at the Penza art school, whose Director was K. A. Savitsky. After graduating with honors from the school, Gorelov without examination was adopted in 1903 at the Academy of arts in St. Petersburg and worked in the Studio of I. E. Repin and F. A. Rubo and p. P. Chistyakov. In student's years was defined creative interests Gorelova — he began to work in the historical genre. At exhibitions of the Academy and the society for the encouragement of arts, he presented his pictures on subjects from Russian history, "STEPAN RAZIN ON the WAY TO MOSCOW" and "the MIRACLE AT the BURIAL of ALEXANDER NEVSKY". The second was his diploma work (1911). For it he received a gold medal and the title of the artist. After graduating from the Academy in 1911 Gorelov went as a pensioner abroad and visited Germany, Italy and France. In 1914, returning to Russia, Gorelov taught at the Kharkiv art College. In 1915 he moved to Petrograd. Here, the artist began work as a muralist. He completed painting "the RETURN of DIANA WITH HUNTING." After the revolution of 1917 Gorelov continued to work on historical paintings ("REVOLUTION IN the VILLAGE", 1924; "the EXECUTION of PUGACHEV", 1925). During world war II his work was devoted to topics related to the fighting ("FEAT TOV. PAVLOVA", 1942; "THE BAYONET", 1942). Historical themes interested him, and in that time ("the EXECUTION of STEPAN RAZIN", 1946; "the UPRISING BOLOTNIKOVA", 1944). After the war, Gorelov a lot and worked on portraits. A gallery of images of steel workers of the plant "Hammer and sickle", he created in 1949 (portraits of A. S. Subbotin, and V. I. Grachev, both — in the Tretyakov gallery, M. G. Gusarov, RM). In 1953 by Gorelov was made a beautiful portrait of F. F. Fedorovsky and writer K. Krapiva. In 1953, Gorelov was awarded the title of member of the Academy of arts USSR, laureate of the State prize of the USSR. Gorelov taught at the Moscow art school memory of 1905.
