Biography and information

Worked in icon painting workshop M. Malova (1890s), and during these years worked in the Studio of A. P. Bolshakov. He studied at Penza art school (1889-1903) with K. A. Savitsky in OH V. E. Makovsky, I. Repin, V. E. Savinsky. Participated in exhibitions since 1907 (AH, the society, etc.).

In 1910, for the painting "Dealers" and "Repentance" was the title of the artist. In 1911 and 1912 as a pensioner of arts traveled to Italy, France and Germany. He lived in Leningrad. Painted pictures on historical and revolutionary themes, and the themes of socialist construction. After the October revolution took an active part in the artistic life of the country. Since 1923 was a member of AHRR, 1924-1926 – headed the Leningrad branch of AHRR. In 1939 he participated at the world exhibition in new York. Solo exhibitions were held in Leningrad (1935, 1940).

His works are in state Russian Museum, the Museum AH, the Theatrical Museum of St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg Art Gallery, in many regional museums of the former USSR, in Russian and foreign private collections.
