Born February 5, 1928 in the village of Pavlovsk of Altai Krai.

Graduated from the Moscow school (1949), Leningrad art College (1953), the Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. I. E. Repin Leningrad (1959).

Works in the genre of portraiture, thematic paintings, landscapes.

The main theme of creativity – the history of the peasantry in the Altai, the theme of the earth. Gennady Fedorovich Borunova also attract strong people, firmly associated with the earth. They created works that have become classics of fine arts of Altai.

In the village of Pavlovsk, the artist founded the art gallery, which in 2004 bears his name.

He was elected a delegate to the second, the fifth Congress of artists of the USSR, second, third, fourth congresses of artists of the RSFSR.

Since 1959 he has participated in exhibitions of regional, zonal, Republican, foreign, international, among them: all-Union exhibition of diploma works of art UNIVERSITIES of the USSR ,1959, Moscow, "Artists of the Urals, Siberia, Far East", 1971, Moscow, "Soviet Russia", 1965, 1980, 1985, Moscow, all-Union art exhibition "Always alert", 1972, 1977, Moscow and many others. Personal exhibition in Moscow, 1987.

He has government awards. Laureate of the Demidov Fund of Altai Krai (1995), corresponding member of the Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and arts (1996), Winner of regional award in the field of literature, art, architecture and folk art (1998). Winner of the "Fund of culture of the Altai Republic" in the nomination "the Recognition" (2008).

Lives and works in Barnaul.

Member of the Union of artists since 1964.
