Alexey Konstantinov

Alexey Vladimirovich Konstantinov was born in 1954 in Moscow.
In 1976 he graduated from the graphic arts department of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute. The teachers of painting and drawing were A. P. Stroganov and B. V. Lushnikov, but the main mentor and leader who instilled a love for painting and Russian nature, all his years of study were Konstantinov’s grandfather, artist Vsevolod Andreevich Filippov, A. Ye. Arkhipov’s student, K.A. Korovin, A.M. Vasnetsov, and V.D. Falileev.

In 1980, Alexey Konstantinov entered the Association of Young Artists and Art Critics at the Moscow Union of Artists. He participated in exhibitions "Spring", "Russian North" at Kuznetsky Most in Moscow, and in a number of exhibitions held by artists of the village "Artist" in the town of Ruza and the village "Sychevo" of the Moscow region.

In 1989 Konstantinov resigned from the Union. He was engaged in painting at his dacha in the village "Artist" near Volokolamsk, and at home in Moscow. He wrote exclusively from nature, in nature: in the field, in the forest, by the lake, in the garden. The themes of Konstantinov's works are wildlife and everything that surrounds the artist day and night: people, flowers, interiors, the moon and stars, the city, children's toys, Christmas trees, trees, roads, fields, the garden of his grandfather and father.

Alexey Konstantinov’s painting is a quick etude-painting, written in one session. The transparency and intensity of colors, the predominance of light tones, dynamic smear are distinguished by these sketches. According to Mikhail Lebedyansky, a doctor of art criticism, “Alexey’s works breathe with freshness and spontaneity, he has developed his own style of writing and vision of the subject of the image”.
