S. Berry was born in Orenburg region. In 1953 he graduated from the KHI (studied under I. Shtilman, K. Yeleva, O. Shovkunenko). From 1963 he taught at KHI, since 1977 – Professor. The honored worker of arts of the USSR since 1964. People's artist of the USSR since 1976. Lived and worked in Kiev.
