Wilhelm August Amberg, Lebrecht (it. Wilhelm Amberg; 1822-1899) — German artist, a recognized master of genre painting of the XIX century.

Wilhelm August, Lebrecht Amberg was born on 25 Feb 1822 in the German capital city of Berlin.

Art drawing Amberg studied first at the Berlin Academy of arts under the direction of William Herbig (it. Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Herbig), and then, from 1839 to 1842 Wilhelm Amberg attended the art Studio of Karl Begas, and then from 1844 to 1845 adopts the methods of writing in the city of Paris, the acclaimed master Leon Konya. During his stay in France Amberg begins to participate in art exhibitions.

After graduation, in search of inspiration, Amberg has traveled extensively throughout Italy, visiting Venice, Naples, Perugia, Rome, and the Vatican, where he met with the works of the greatest masters of painting. In 1847, on his return to Germany, Amberg spent some time in Munich, but then again moved to the capital.

In 1869 Wilhelm Amberg was elected to the Berlin Academy of arts.

In 1873 in the Austrian capital city of Vienna Wilhelm August Amberg, Lebrecht received recognition and was awarded the medal "For services in art", and four years later received a gold medal.

In 1886 Wilhelm Amberg joined the Academic Council of the Berlin Academy of arts.

In addition to genre painting, Amberg drew illustrations for magazines of various kinds, and seriously enough was engaged in lithography.

Wilhelm August Amberg, Lebrecht died 8 September 1899 in Berlin at the age of seventy seven years.
