From Magritte to Duchamp. 1929: The great works of surrealism from the Pompidou Center

Palazzo Blu in Pisa this fall presented the exhibition “From Magritte to Duchamp. 1929: The great works of surrealism from the Pompidou Center. This is the first exhibition in Italy from the permanent collection of the Paris Pompidou Center, which owns the most important European works of art of the twentieth century.

About 90 works, including paintings, sculptures, surrealistic objects, drawings, collages, installations and photographs trace the extraordinary adventure of the surrealist avant-garde since the heyday of the movement around 1929th. It was a decisive year for a group of artists who worked at that time in Paris.

The exhibition brings together a variety of important works, most of which are made between 1927 and 1935. The Center Pompidou provided works by Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Giacometti, Man Ray, Pablo Picasso and many others.
