The collection of Giovanni Pietro Campana marquise di Cavelli (1809 - 1880) was considered one of the most significant private collections of the XIX century. It was distinguished by the large number and quality of the exhibits included in it, many of which can be considered masterpieces. The name of Campana became widely known in scientific circles, collectors, aristocrats, specialists and art lovers dreamed of visiting its museum.
