Contemporary artists

Exhibition 1 September − 27 October 2019
ThisExhibitionunites artists whose works expand the field of modern painting.

The exhibition includes works by Michael Armitage, Peter Doig, Chris Ofili, Carol Rhodes, Thomas Sheibitz and Rakib Shaw.

Despite their individual styles and often semi-autobiographical references, all these artists demonstrate a mutual contemporary sensitivity to global issues such as race, identity, multiculturalism and post-colonial politics. Often referring to artists of the past, they share an interest in the process of painting itself, while at the same time challenging the prevailing artistic traditions, traditional methods and use of materials.
