In the National Art Museum of Ukraine opened the exhibition project "
Dad, the helmet is pressing. Contemporary art from the NAMU collection".
The exhibition not only presents the museum's collection of works from the second half of the 1980s to the present day on a large scale for the first time, but also looks at the artistic process of the last thirty years through the lens of a classical museum. The exhibition project aims to make a critical revision of the recent past and, in the light of discussions on the museum of contemporary art, to outline the direction of the movement in contemporary art collecting.
The exhibition "Daddy, the helmet is pressing" is deployed in five halls, where more than fifty works are presented. The public collection of the works of modern art, which came to the National Art Museum of Ukraine thanks to the auction "Time of Maecenas" in 2004, can be seen by the audience for the first time. Initiated by the Mazocha Foundation (Igor Podolchak and Igor Durich) the action brought together museum workers, collectors, businessmen, cultural workers, artists and art critics who sought to support the museum in building a collection of contemporary art. The exhibition includes works by Pavel Makov, Alexander Gnilitsky, Gleb Vysheslavsky, Ilya Chichkan, Viktor Marushchenko, Alexander Glyadelov, Andrei Sagaidakovsky, Yuri Solomko, Dmitry Dulfan, Igor Gusev, Vasily Tsagolov and others. The exhibition will also feature selected works from the former corporate collection of JSC Gradobank, which after lengthy litigation in 2016 became part of NAMU's collection. These are paintings by Alexander Roitburd, Yuri Solomko, Yana Bystrova, Valery Trubin, Tiberius Silvashi, Nikolay Krivenko, Dmitry Kavsan, Sergey Panych, Marina Skugareva, Oleg Tistol, Arsen Savadov and others.
