Martin-Gropius-Bau invites you to visit the exhibition
"Frosts and Colds. Paintings of the USA and the USSR 1960-1990 from the Ludwig Collection".
The exhibition includes more than 125 paintings by 80 artists, including Joe Bayer, Eric Bulatov, Jasper Johns, Ilya Kabakov, Lee Lozano, Natalia Nesterova, Viktor Pivovarov, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler and Ivan Chuykov.
Visitors will see paintings from the collection of the Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation, which has 14 thousand works and is housed in 26 museums on three continents. The Ludwigs have collected not only Russian avant-garde and American pop art, but also acquired paintings by Soviet and American artists since the 1950s. The exhibition demonstrates how art reflected the contradictions between the two social systems.
