Dostoevsky is dedicated

The State Tretyakov Gallery holds an exhibition dedicated to the classics of Russian literature To Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky (1821-1881).

The project is timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the outstanding writer's birth. The main work of the focus exhibition is the only lifetime portrait of F.M. Dostoevsky, which was commissioned by P.M. Tretyakov for the portrait series of outstanding national figures and still holds an important place in the permanent exhibition of the Tretyakov Gallery.

The project also includes six works from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery, to which F.M. Dostoevsky referred: "Hymn of the Pythagoreans to the Rising Sun" (1869) by F.A. Bronnikov, The Last Spring (1861) by M.P.Klodt, On the Island of Valaam (1873) by A.I.Kuindzhi, Preaching in the Village (1861) and Hunters at Rest (1871) by V.G.Perov and Prisoners' Rest (1861) by V.I.Yakoby. Dostoevsky's interest in pictorial analysis of Russian art reveals his genuine enthusiasm for Russian art.
