Vladimir Tretchikov. Collection of plays

Exhibition 16 October − 16 November 2018
From October 16 to November 16, 2018 in the House of Russian Abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn - an exhibition of the famous Russian artist, still unknown in his homeland.

In the pictures of Tretchikov, generations grew. But not in our country. Creativity Tretchikova presented at this exhibition for the first time in Russia.

Vladimir Grigorievich Tretchikov (1913–2006) was born in the Russian Empire, grew up in China, began painting in Singapore and Indonesia, and became famous in the West.

Reproductions of his paintings became bestsellers in the UK, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

These reproductions can be seen in the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Guy Ritchie, in the videos of David Bowie and The White Stripes.

Reproductions of paintings are connected with the life of generations, their dreams, memories and joys. The fate of reproduction is more fascinating than the fate of the work itself.

It happened with the lithographs of the works of Tretchikov. Tertchikov's towels are not in museums, and viewers know his works only from reproductions. Dozens of his paintings are stored in the homes of collectors. And tens of thousands of reproductions of these paintings hang in the apartments of ordinary people.

The exhibition presents lithographs made under the control of the artist and presented to the “House of Russian Abroad” by his family. Some of them are noticeably different from the originals. But it is in this version that his work is known to three generations of viewers in the West.
