After years of painting and exhibiting locally, I set up a website, Art@souleskerry.com using Vistaprint (business cards). After missteps with Artisans Atlas and Fine Art America, I decided to try Saatchi.
For Michigan State University Press, I proofread galleys for ee cummings' poetry and the MSU AGRICULTURAL DiCTIONARY. I was an A+ English and French student which instilled a love of reading and words (with Latin, my vocabulary experienced exponential growth). I wrote/edited text and illustrations lfor a realtor's consultant reports, Plantronics' field training manuals and Borland/Seagate technical manuals. For Georgiana Bruce Kirby, I reorganized front office protocol and later became Registrar. I write protest emails, love my husband of 60 years, love to decorate my house and garden, and after seeing “The Wizard of Oz” though I was only four, hooked on movies ever after. Owned a bookstore/art gallery (Hesperos) in Berkeley, CA and on Vashon Island, WA (Tramp Harbor Book Store); both ventures unsuccessful, leaving us both heart broken.
For the future, I would love to paint murals on big wall spaces, a talent-inspiration coming from my uncle, Rudy Autio, whose clay sculptures and ceramics are on permanent display in Finland, Japan and the United States at the Smithsonian. Now in heaven I am sure, my uncle gained the namesake "Matisse of Modern Ceramic Art". I have really enjoyed being a part of ArtBrut, loved the different approaches to creating art and conversation, though short, with artists all over the planet. Great fun!
