Born 1 (14) Aug 1910 in Palekh. Hereditary painter, son of G. M. Bakanova. In 1914-1918 he studied at the educational workshops of the Committee of guardianship of Russian iconography. Then entered the Studio of the brothers Belousovich. Studied at I. I. Zubkov. In 1928 he joined the Artel of ancient painting. Teachers with I. M. Bakanov.M.Zinoviev. In 1931 he was elected a member of the Board and Vice-Chairman of the Cooperative. In 1938-1941, he was Chairman of the Association of artists of Palekh, in the years 1954-1971 Director of Palekh art-production workshops. Died 1 Feb 1979, buried in Palekh.
