Was born in Tbilisi. He studied at the Tbilisi art College in Leningrad art Academy. In 1954 he graduated from Yerevan art and theatre Institute.

Memories of the first Russian Ambassador

Introduced me and with a true academic traditions, not too young, great painter Vahan Koreanum. The housing of this fine artist — a kind of work of art and the Museum. It is built right into the rock, surrounded by flower gardens and fruit trees. The walls are completely covered with paintings of different years. From the Studio Windows offer a wonderful view of the city of Ashtarak. In the foreground is an ancient stone bridge over the river Kasakh, and above it on a high shore the Church of St. Hovhannes. The artist invited me to choose any pattern. I was not greedy and took a little sketch, but it was on a very my beloved mount Ara, which I used to greet every time I went in or Yeghvard, Ashtarak.
