Was born in Ivanovo. Member of the Union of artists of Russian Federation since 1985. In 1970-1975 he studied at the Palekh art school. Teachers - A. V. Borunov, B. M. Nemtinov, K. S. Semeikin. In 1978-1989 he worked at the Palekh art-production workshops. In 1992 he participated in the creation of the iconostasis of the Church of Elijah the Prophet in Palekh.
Themes of works: folklore, rituals, landscape, religious. Participant of exhibitions since 1980.The work of O. S. Subbotina (Smirnova) are stored in museums: gmpi, Umgeni, PIM, Ivanovo OC, Pgaas, HF Russia.
