Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR.

Born March 27, 1916, on a farm Mykolaivka Thermi village of Lubensky district, Poltava region in the family farmers, fertile land of Poltava gave rich crops of wheat. However, the October revolution brought significant changes in the lives of all kinds of Ocheretino. In the six years Jacob was left without a father. The mother with the support of relatives raised three sons and a daughter. The Athena was his childhood love of painting. The children received a good primary education in Nikolaevskoe the 4-year school. Then Jacob graduated from Shershnevskoe labor school (1928 - 1931.g.). Collectivization deprived of their lands. In 1931 mother and her children expelled from their home. Threats of arrests and repression forced the family to disperse in different directions. By a twist of fate Jacob was in Kharkov. Where in 1933. in the Kharkov school F. W. received a specialty carpenter and worked at the plant "hammer and Sickle".

Starting an independent life, Jacob was able to realize a long-held dream, was admitted to evening courses of the Kharkov art College, and after their successful graduation he entered the Kharkov art Institute at the faculty "Painting"(1939-1941). The war, the occupation forced the young man to return home, where he was attached to the backup shelf. At the end of the great Patriotic war in accordance of the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was discharged 14 November 1945. And at the request of the Director of the Kharkiv art Institute, he was seconded for graduation. However, by mutual consent of the parties, November 7, 1945 personal matter of Jacob, Ocheretko was accepted at the Kiev state art Institute, faculty of historical and battle painting, which he brilliantly graduated in 1948. His diploma work was the painting "the Meeting Kovpaka Fedorova and on the river". For the realization of the story the artist needed a close study of the image of the horse, to know their structure, beauty, for this Director of the Kiev Institute nor once wrote petitions to the head of the equestrian division of the Ministry of internal Affairs of the USSR, that would have given permission to the student to Ocheretko J. E. sketches of horses. Horses were a special love of the artist, preserved a lot of pencil sketches of these graceful animals.

In the direction of the Institute in 1948 Yakov Emelyanovich started to work in the Kosovo College of applied arts, lecturer of drawing and painting. During this period, there was a picture of "Guerrilla Commissioner M. Rudnev". However, in Kosovo it was not possible to find a large space for a Studio. And the artist's family was asked to move to Vyzhnytsya town, from 1950 to 1965 Yakov Emelyanovich taught painting at the Vyzhnytsya College of applied art. Also at this time, the Union of artists of the USSR contributed to the selection of the creative workshop of the artist. The surrounding beauty of the Carpathian mountains, the rich history of Bukovina gave rise to new ideas and images from the artist. So there is a fundamental pattern "Bukovina forest Kakhovka" (1952), "Oleksa Dovbush" (1954), "Lucian Stallion at the peasant session in 1848, before the rebels" (1959), "Duma about Bukovina" ("Yuriy Fedkovich") 175х251 R. (I960). In addition to the embodiment of the historical images Yakov Emelyanovich worked in the social direction. Received a lot of orders from factory collectives, kolkhozes, who wanted to have paintings of their shops, fields, agricultural equipment, and advanced production. So his work was included socialist realism. Through Vyzhnytsya town on the river Cheremis passed the handling of the forest, because there was a picture of "rafting" 180x200 (1956). For the transmission of local color in the paintings of the author and sketches of national costumes, household items, as well as spectacular images of local residents........

From 1965 he was a member of the Chernivtsi art workshops.

He died on 9 June 1996, in the year of its 80th anniversary, is once again recognition of his work, the gratitude and respect of their students. He is buried at the foot of the hill on which the leaves whispering the old beeches, telling stories and scenes from the life of Bukovina, we can see on the pictures of Yakov Emelyanovich, Ocheretko.
