After graduating from secondary and art schools, he began his labor and creative activity as an artist-designer at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. A. Ermakov graduated from the art department of the Ulyanovsk Pedagogical School No. 1 (1967-1972). He served in the Soviet Army, worked as a graphic designer in a number of Ulyanovsk organizations, including the chief artist of the Ulyanovsk tank higher military command school (1982-1985), an artist-painter of the Ulyanovsk art-production workshops of the Ulyanovsk Union of Artists (1982-1985). ). From 1985 to 2012 Anatoly Aleksandrovich headed the art-production workshops of the Ulyanovsk regional branch of the All-Union Union of Artists of Russia. For more than a quarter of a century, in the most difficult economic conditions of the post-Soviet period, A.A. Ermakov. sought and found opportunities for maintaining and full-fledged production activities of the organization. Under his leadership, work was carried out on the complex design of streets, squares and interiors of public buildings in the city and countryside of our region. He headed the work and was directly involved in organizing charitable events: creating works as a gift to the regional hospital for war veterans, a children's multidisciplinary hospital, children's specialized institutions, schools, etc .; was a member of the organizing committee of the "Interregional Museum Festival", regional competitions of museum projects, exhibitions "Volga-Volga", etc. Anatoly Ermakov's exhibition activities began in 1974. He created a series of works about rural life "Neighbors", paintings on a military theme, portraits of contemporaries, landscapes. Cycle "Neighbors" - works about rural life. They were painted in the village of Fedkino, Terengul region, where the artist's house was located. Citizen by spirit, A.A. Ermakov with love writes the Russian provinces.
