Holy Family

Fifth picture. "The Holy Family." Describes Joseph's completion of his life's journey and his transition to another state. While the grown-up Jesus and the still young Mary indulge in the usual earthly pleasures, Joseph contemplates Jacob's ladder and the angel meets his reflection. The fighting cockerel fish hovering above the protagonist symbolizes the new religion, and the deep-sea duckfish the ancient chthonic beliefs.
