Domestic well-known critic and connoisseur of art, Vladimir Stasov, mentioning among others "the Boy with the harmonica" by M. Kudryavtsev, wrote: "It actually sketches from nature, and does not therefore equate with the countless works of the modern French school, where not only content is no, but there is also no expression of any type and nature, and consists in one external virtuosity of painting". Hard to guess which direction would be the development of his talent. He died in less than twenty five years from tuberculosis.
