Italian painter Domenico fetti (CA. 1588-1623) was born in Rome. In his youth he studied with Cigoli. In 1613 he moved to Mantua, he served at the court of the influential Duke Ferdinand II Gonzaga. Through a representative of the Duke in Rome met the famous collectors, patrons, among whom was the rector of the Church of San Lorenzo in Damascus. – cardinal Montalto who made the first order, the novice master (the painting "the Angels have the image of the Madonna and child").

The artist's work developed during the first two decades of the 17th century. The work of Domenico fetti is a one-figure compositions with biblical characters, Cabinet paintings on mythological themes, allegorical subjects, and portraits that the artist began to write during his stay in Mantua.
