"Piano keys" displays the transition by františek Kupka from the short-lived fascination with neo-impressionism into the world of abstraction. The music is extremely abstract Kupka, valensi critic defined it as "musicality".
At the bottom of the fabric shows the piano keys in the form of vertical lines which Kupka was shown as the one with the higher matters of the ascension (see
"Cathedral").
"Vertical line of solemn, it is the backbone of life in space, the axis of any design"– explained the artist.
Fingers touch the keys upward, of which is born the whole world. It seems that the boat, the lake, the trees and the people came out of the piano chord. The result can be described by the words of Boris Pasternak, who in his early poems were perfectly able to combine poetry and music:
I key the pack fed from the handUnder the flapping of wings, the splash and laughter.Earlier the Lithuanian painter and composer čiurlionis Mikalojus also actively looking for relationships between painting and music and, like Kupka, often
called his paintings musical terms.
Kupka painting is not spontaneous and deeply thought out. He has used the idea of Newton about matching the solar spectrum and sounds a musical octave, drawing Parallels between the length of the colored portions of the spectrum and frequency of the oscillations of the sound range. According to this theory, "to" red, "re" purple, "mi", blue and so on. By the way Newton himself is the opening considered completely useless and idle. But Kupka this attitude is not shared (it even has an abstract painting
"Discs Of Newton") and when writing the "piano-Keys" clearly referred to the idea of Newton. From black and white keys are born not just the world, but the world, dressed in all colors of the spectrum, or rather, created from these colors.
