John Loftus Lee-Pemberton AFC (1911-1997) was a painter and illustrator from the United Kingdom, best known for his book illustrations.
Lee-Pemberton was the great-grandson of Edward Lee Pemberton . He was born on October 18, 1911 and educated at Eton ; he studied art in London between 1928 and 1932. During the Second World War he was a flight instructor for the Royal Air Force and was awarded the Air Force Cross in 1945. In addition to his book illustrations, Lee -Pemberton did advertising work and decorated a number of ships. He also worked on a series of Shell Guides . However, perhaps his best known work is on the Ladybug series of books for children where he has written and illustrated many series on natural history subjects.
