Viktorovich Volkov

[7(19).4.1881, Yelets, Lipetsk region now - a 8.11.1964, Minsk], a Soviet painter, people's artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1955). He studied at the Penza art College (1901-07) of K. A. Savitsky, and in St. Petersburg Academy of arts (1907-15) at V. E. Savinsky. The author of the design panel for festive decoration of Petrograd (watercolor, 1918, Russian Museum, Leningrad), a portrait of V. I. Lenin (1926, the Byelorussian SSR, Minsk); wrote mainly portraits and thematic paintings ("Universitarians", 1947, "Minsk, 3 July 1944", 1946-1955 - both in the Art Museum of the Byelorussian SSR, Minsk). He taught at the Vitebsk art school (1923-29), the Belarusian theatre and art Institute (1953-64; Professor, 1957). Awarded the order "badge of Honor" and medals.

People's artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1955), was born 20.04.1881 Alec Oryol province, Russia. Died 9.11.1964 in Minsk. Intensense studied in art College (1901-1907), the Higher art school at the Imperial Academy of Arts (St. Petersburg, 1907 – 1915). Taught in Velizh art school (1919 – 1923), the Vitebsk art school (1923 – 1929), Minsk art school (1947 – 1949), at the Department of drawing at the Belarusian state theatre and art Institute (now Belarusian state Academy of arts) (1953 – 1964, with 1957 head of the Department of the figure). Professor (1961). A member of the "independent Companies" (St. Petersburg, 1911 – 1913), of the Committee of the artists Association (St. Petersburg, 1912 – 1914), "Community of artists" (St. Petersburg, 1914 – 1920). A member of the Union of Soviet artists of BSSR since 1940. Participant of exhibitions since 1903. He lived in Belarus in 1923, in Minsk from 1929
