In Mozdok V. Krantz attended classes in the Studio of the artist Alexei Ivanovich Turbine. He graduated in 1940 the architecture faculty of the construction Engineering Institute in Leningrad. After the war, the artist worked in LENISA, at the same time attended classes in the Studio of G. S. Nevelshteyn. His personal exhibitions took place in Leningrad in 1977, 1991, 1992, 1995.
In the 1960-1970s by V. Krantz works hard in the house of creativity Staraya Ladoga, at the Academic Dacha, where moving closer to the artist Vladimir Zagoneka. In 1980-90-ies V. Krantz participates in numerous international exhibitions of Soviet art. In this period, the artist writes annually in the Pushkin Mountains, travels to lake Baikal and the Urals. And still the main material for his paintings he finds in Leningrad: in Strelna, Znamenka, Peterhof, Pavlovsk.
