Grigorievich Snegur

Igor G. Snegur (born March 27, 1935 in Moscow) is a Russian abstract painter, a brilliant representative of the underground, Illustrator, master of poster art. Also works in theatre, cinema, is a member of the Russian Academy of arts. Education Igor Snegur received at the polygraphic Institute in Moscow, at the faculty of graphics. In addition, he attended the art Studio at Fili and the Studio Elia Belutin "New reality". The artist participated in more than fifty exhibitions, including personal, organized in Russia and abroad. Works of the artist are not only in museums but in private collections, about a thousand of them in overseas collections.

Features the work of Igor G. Snegur: the artist in his work gradually moved away from the subject of painting, which became his somewhat cramped. Static still-lifes and portraits, not involving close communication with the audience, ceased to attract the wizard. In his opinion, abstract art, allowing the artist to set on the canvas space, free from material more conducive to communication and the mutual exchange of living energy with the audience.

From the biography of I. Snegur: non-conformism and freedom

The appearance in the 50-ies of the Studio "New reality" under the direction of Elia Belutin marked a revolutionary stage in the development of art in the Soviet Union. Many artists by this time realized the necessity of change, since the official socialist realism no longer met contemporary trends, and the changing consciousness of the public was ready to accept the new art.

Creativity always implies a desire to experiment, to look for something unique. Participants in the "New reality", among which were Igor G. Snegur, was devoted to this search for many years: the Association has existed since the 50's to the early 2000s and was a symbol of unofficial art in the Soviet Union. Snegur has participated in many exhibitions of abstract painters, organized by the Studio, including the one which has been criticized by N. Khrushchev (1962). However, in the end, the artists succeeded, in 1975, the first officially permitted exhibition of works of representatives of Russian avant-garde in the pavilion "beekeeping" at ENEA.
