Studied at the Khu I. Seleznev (1902 – 1910), in MUZHVZ.. Kasatkina (1906 – 1916), St. Petersburg Academy of arts.. Samokish (1906 – 1916). Taught at KHI (1933 – 1974), since 1939 – Professor. An outstanding artist and teacher. People's artist of the USSR since 1944 , the laureate of the State prize of Ukraine named after T. Shevchenko. Lived and worked in Kiev.
[R. 13(25).10.1885, the village of Sushchany, Kiev region], a Soviet painter, people's artist of the USSR (1944). He studied at St. Petersburg Academy of arts (1910-16). From 1933 he taught at the Kiev art Institute. In numerous thematic paintings realistically displays of socialist construction in the Ukraine ("People of the Dnieper", 1937, Museum of Ukrainian fine arts of the Ukrainian SSR, Kiev; "the Farmers-activists", 1940, local history Museum; "On the construction of the Kiev hydroelectric station", 1963), the friendship of the Ukrainian and Russian people, scenes from the life of Taras Shevchenko ("Shevchenko and Engelhardt", 1939, Kiev Museum of T. G. Shevchenko). State prize of the USSR them. T. G. Shevchenko (1969) for a series of paintings "My Ridna Batkivshchyna" (1964-68). Awarded 2 orders and medals.
