Honored artist of Russian Federation, laureate of the State prize of the RSFSR named after I. Repin. Born in Moscow in 1934. In 1953 graduated from the Moscow secondary art school named after V. I. Surikov. From 1953 to 1956 he studied at the painting faculty of the Moscow state art Institute named after V. I. Surikov. From 1956 to 1960 studied at painting faculty of the Leningrad state Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture named I. E. Repin (workshop of Professor E. E. Moiseenko). In 1960 – 1961 he worked on the island of Spitsbergen. In 1962 was admitted as a member of the Union of artists of the USSR. Since 1963, traveled extensively in the Russian North and the Arctic (Kola Peninsula, Chukotka, Taimyr). In 1964 and 1968 he published his book "seven inches from the pole" and "Tacoma". For the cycle of works devoted to the North, was awarded the silver medal VDNH of USSR "For merits in development of national economy", the medal "For construction of BAM" and the State prize of the RSFSR behalf I. E. Repin
