[5(17).10.1889, the village Kulashi, Samtredia district, now, — 24.8.1970, Sukhumi], a Soviet sculptor, people's artist of the Georgian SSR (1957). Studied at the Leningrad Academy of arts (graduated in 1926) by A. T. Matveev. From 1926 he taught at the Tbilisi Academy of arts (since 1944 Professor). The author of portraits with emphasized strong-willed, energetic characters (the artist, L. Gudiashvili, stone, 1935, people's artist of the USSR A. Heravi, bronze, 1948, academician N. Muskhelishvili, bronze, 1954 — all in the art Museum of the Georgian SSR, Tbilisi) and statues (monument F. Makharadze, G. Makharadze, bronze, 1958). Awarded the order of Labor red banner and medals.
