(19.XI.1906, St. Petersburg - 9.V.1971) - Soviet sculptor, people's artist of the USSR (1963). In 1952-65 Professor at the Moscow higher art-industrial school. In 1968 the Chairman of the Union of artists of the USSR. Works primarily in the field of easel sculpture. Works: portrait of S. A. Dobrolyubov (gypsum, 1942; bronze, 1965, the Directorate of exhibitions of the Union of artists of the USSR), "Unconquered" (gypsum, 1943; bronze, 1957, Tretyakov gallery), "Daydreaming" (marble, 1957-58, Tretyakov gallery), a monument to A. S. Pushkin in Pushkin hills of the Pskov region (bronze, opened in 1959), portrait of N. K. Krupskaya (bronze, 1959, Kuibyshev Warsaw; marble, 1969), the project of the monument to N. K. Krupskaya in Moscow (plaster, 1970, the Ministry of culture of the USSR).
